Nick-named 'Slide', the hoverboard features liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors and permanent magnets to create magnetic levitation. A very expensive and heavy piece of equipment, if it were to ever get past concept-stage.

Lexus partnered with world leading experts in super conductor technology to create what they claim is the most advanced (skate) hoverboard.

Lexus International executive vice-president Mark Templin says the new hoverboard, "exemplifies Lexus’ commitment to innovation in design and engineering."

The hoverboard pushes the boundaries of what is possible in automotive and transportation design. Lexus has apparently been testing the hoverboard in Barcelona, Spain this month.

Lexus hoverboard test rider, UK-based pro skater Ross McGouran features in this movie created by Lexus for their “Amazing in Motion” campaign to profile the hoverboard.

We are yet to see McGouran (or anyone else) actually standing on the board. Lots of hype surrounding this one, but worth a look.

See the official Lexus footage of Ross McGouran and the Lexus hoverboard.

The footage on the Lexus site at least shows one foot placed on the board.
