Running from 1 February to 15 June 2014, the event, titled ‘Pinned Up at the Stedelijk – 25 Years of Design’, will celebrate the work of this internationally renowned designer, known for his product, furniture and interior designs, as well as original art direction.

The exhibition marks the first European museum survey of the designer since 1999, and is the largest-ever presentation of Wanders’ work.

“Few designers can boast such a combination of talents,” says curator of Industrial Design at the Stedelijk, Ingeborg de Roode. “Now, after 25 years of professional practice and at the zenith of his career, the time has come for a museum analysis.”

Showcasing works from Wanders’ entire opus – from the late 1980s until today – the exhibition will feature over 400 weird, wild and wonderful designs on display in the enormous 1100-square-metre gallery space, divided into three zones: the White Zone, the Black Zone and an Art Direction Lounge.

Objects on show include furniture, packaging, interiors, cutlery, utensils, wallpaper, jewellery and lamps – and more. Also featured will be sketches and prototypes, experimental work and special projects, as well as ‘virtual interiors’ and fantastical new digital creations.
