From the publisher

Ignacio Germade, chief designer for Motorola, in the United Kingdom and South East Asia, came to Melbourne and Sydney. This gave me the opportunity to meet an inspiring designer, passionate about his profession and the importance of human interface design in today’s society.

Locally, Sydney based industrial designer, Ruth McDermott shows us how to take inspiration from our vivid natural environment and to use these ideas to create new ways of working in design and product development.

In this issue we launch our Focus segment where we highlight Australian industrial design consultancies. The efforts by everyone involved ensured we could provide a much needed glimpse of the design talent in this country.
