The installation brief was for a structure that would sit above a bridged entry to the museum, providing a link between the past, as embodied in the colonial architecture of the original building, and the present, represented by the glass and steel construction of the new wing.

For the development of the automation system to control the eight swinging crystal chandeliers, she sought assistance from the electrical-accessory company HPM and the software-engineering company Crafted Software. The automation technology controls the illumination and the different swinging patterns of the elaborate chandeliers.

Originally planned as a three-month installation, the museum has decided to take on Interrogating Time permanently.
